What Is GPO-3 Sheet Used For?

GPO-3 is widely used when an insulation part must handle electrical safety, mechanical support, flame resistance, and stable processing at the same time. Unlike ordinary plastic boards, it is made from fiberglass mat and polyester resin, then pressed into a rigid laminated sheet. This structure gives it reliable dielectric performance, good arc resistance, and strong dimensional stability for electrical equipment.

For manufacturers, the value of a gpo-3 fiberglass insulation sheet is not only its insulation rating. It can be cut, drilled, punched, milled, and formed into custom parts, which makes it practical for batch production of electrical insulation components.

1. Electrical Cabinet Insulation Panels

GPO-3 is often used inside low-voltage switchgear, distribution cabinets, control panels, and power equipment. These parts may include phase barriers, support plates, busbar insulation boards, arc shields, and mounting bases.

According to common UL 94 testing references, many GPO-3 grades can reach V-0 flame classification. This is important for electrical cabinets because the material must reduce flame spread risk near energized components. IEC 60893 data for rigid insulating laminates also shows that polyester fiberglass materials are commonly selected for applications requiring insulation strength, tracking resistance, and mechanical stability.

For buyers ordering cabinet insulation parts, the drawing should clearly confirm thickness, hole position, creepage distance, and edge finishing. These details can affect the final safety margin more than the sheet name alone.

2. Busbar Support And Phase Separation

Busbar systems need insulation materials that can separate conductive parts while holding stable shape under clamping force. GPO-3 is suitable for busbar supports, phase separators, spacer blocks, insulation channels, and fixing brackets.

Typical GPO-3 sheets can offer dielectric strength around 12 to 16 kV/mm under standard test conditions, based on common ASTM D149 testing references. Actual values depend on thickness, surface condition, humidity, and production batch. For this reason, our team usually reviews the voltage level and assembly distance before recommending thickness.

In many GPO-3 sheet applications, the material must also resist cracking around drilled holes. Good machining control, suitable hole spacing, and clean edge treatment help improve installation reliability.

3. Motor And Transformer Components

GPO-3 can be used for motor slot wedges, insulation spacers, end plates, coil support parts, transformer barriers, and structural insulation blocks. These components often need insulation performance plus resistance to heat and mechanical pressure.

Many industrial references list GPO-3 with a thermal class around 155°C, depending on grade and testing method. This makes it useful in electrical equipment where ordinary plastic parts may deform too easily under heat. However, buyers still need to check continuous working temperature, compression load, vibration, and whether the part will contact oil or moisture.

For motor and transformer use, surface cleanliness is especially important. Dust, burrs, and rough edges should be controlled after machining because small defects may reduce insulation reliability during long-term operation.

4. Arc-Resistant Barriers

GPO-3 is often chosen for arc barriers and safety separation parts because it has good arc resistance and flame-retardant behavior. ASTM D495 is commonly used to evaluate arc resistance of insulating materials, and GPO-3 is frequently selected for equipment where electrical arcing risk must be reduced.

This does not mean the sheet can replace proper electrical design. The final part still needs enough clearance, stable fastening, smooth edges, and correct installation direction. When used near conductive parts, rounded corners and clean surfaces can help reduce discharge risk.

As a GPO-3 insulation sheet supplier, SENKEDA can support cut-to-size plates, drilled panels, punched parts, CNC machined components, and samples for assembly checking before repeat orders.

5. Custom Machined Insulation Parts

GPO-3 is practical for custom insulation parts because it processes well in batch production. It can be made into washers, spacers, brackets, fixing boards, support rails, insulation strips, and shaped panels.

Compared with many rigid plastic sheets, GPO-3 offers a useful balance between flame resistance, electrical insulation, and mechanical strength. Typical flexural strength can reach above 150 MPa in many commercial grades, based on commonly referenced ASTM D790 material testing. This helps finished parts hold shape during assembly and use.

For bulk purchasing, buyers should confirm sheet thickness, tolerance, quantity, processing method, packaging, and inspection standard before production. Clear drawings help reduce waste, avoid repeated sampling, and keep later orders consistent.

Practical Buying Notes

GPO-3 is mainly used for electrical insulation structures that require flame resistance, arc resistance, dielectric strength, and stable machining. It is suitable for cabinets, busbar systems, motors, transformers, power distribution equipment, and custom industrial insulation parts.

SENKEDA can review drawings, voltage requirements, thickness range, hole design, and machining tolerance to help customers select a practical material solution. Better early review can improve production efficiency, reduce installation risk, and make repeat supply more stable.
